PSP Achieves ESSA Tier 5 Sustainability Accreditation

A Leading Benchmark for Sustainability in the Events Industry.

We’re incredibly proud to share that PSP has been awarded the Tier 5 Sustainability Accreditation by ESSA (Event Supplier and Services Association) – the highest level achievable.

As a trade body representing the leading suppliers in the UK events industry, ESSA sets a high bar for excellence, safety, and responsibility. Achieving their top-tier sustainability status is no small feat – especially in an industry where environmental impact can be significant and complex.

Sustainability in live events is a major challenge. From transport and temporary structures to energy use and materials, making meaningful change requires a deep commitment and a complete shift in mindset. At PSP, we’ve made sustainability our top priority. Whether it’s investing in cleaner technology or rethinking logistics, we’re actively transforming how we operate to ensure a lighter footprint on the planet.

We’re also committed to embedding sustainability into our day-to-day operations, not just on event sites. Our ESG Policy outlines clear targets across energy efficiency, responsible procurement, waste reduction, and employee engagement – all designed to minimise our environmental footprint at our main office and warehouse. From installing EV charging points and reducing single-use plastics, to switching to renewable energy tariffs and recycling old equipment, we’re building a more sustainable business behind the scenes, every day.

Why This Accreditation Matters

The ESSA Sustainability Accreditation is independently assessed and aligned with key industry standards. Tier 5 demonstrates not only a commitment to sustainability but also a proven track record of improvement, measurement, and action.

PSP’s Tier 5 result places us among a small group of UK event suppliers recognised for embedding sustainability across all aspects of the business - from planning and procurement to delivery and legacy.

“Sustainability must be woven into every part of the business - not just what we do on site. This accreditation reflects the work we’ve put in, but more importantly, it sets a standard for where we’re going next. It’s about taking responsibility, making better choices, and keeping the momentum going every single day.”
Sarah Marshall, IT & Innovations Director

Real Initiatives, Real Impact

Some of the tangible steps we’ve taken include:

  • Launching a staff volunteering scheme, giving every employee a paid day each year to support causes they care about

  • Donating equipment and resources to charitable organisations and community initiatives

  • Switching to a 100% renewable electricity tariff for our headquarters and warehouse

  • Installing five EV charging points and improving onsite infrastructure for sustainable commuting

  • Partnering with Event:Decision to measure and manage our carbon footprint, and building internal systems to streamline data collection for future reporting

These actions are only the beginning. Our commitment to continuous improvement means we're always exploring new ways to reduce our impact and lead positive change in the events industry.

Looking Ahead

This Tier 5 accreditation isn’t the finish line – it’s a milestone on a longer journey. We’re continuing to:

  • Build better internal systems for measuring environmental data

  • Work closely with suppliers to reduce emissions across shared projects

  • Engage staff across departments through regular ESG meetings and a dedicated internal “Sustainability Suggestions” platform

  • Reach our target to divert at least 60% of waste from landfill by June 2026

Let’s Build Greener Events, Together

We know this journey is best taken in collaboration – with our clients, our suppliers, and our peers. If you’re planning an event and want to know how we can support your sustainability goals, or if you’d like to learn more about our work in this area, we’d love to talk.
