Better by Design: Delivering Responsible Events with Purpose
At PSP, sustainability isn’t just a goal it’s a mindset that shapes every decision we make. That’s why we were proud to collaborate with Event:decision to produce Better By Design: How to Deliver Responsible Events, a virtual event streamed live from B30 Studios via our VEH platform. Guided by Matt Grey, founder of Event:decision, the session brought together a panel of industry experts, each offering a unique lens on what it means to deliver events responsibly:
Jemma Pears, Managing Director at Top Banana, shared insights from the agency perspective, highlighting how creative direction and client engagement can drive sustainable choices. As she noted, “Quite often we see the cost bit as a big barrier… but it isn’t necessarily more expensive – there are clever ways of doing it” . Her advice? “Embed it from the beginning, make it part of the plan, bring your suppliers and the client on that journey, and it just becomes a natural habit after a while”.
Josh Monohan, Founder of Morally Made, brought a conscious brand viewpoint, focusing on ethical sourcing and values-led partnerships. “We only approach a project one way, and that is: how do we do it the most responsible way?” he explained, reinforcing the importance of purpose-driven decision-making.
David Woodcock, Managing Director at PSP, spoke from the supplier side, discussing how technology, logistics, and production can be optimised to reduce environmental impact. He emphasised the importance of early collaboration: “Engage in the supply chain early to really make that difference and get us all on board with it”.
One of the key takeaways from the session was the importance of collaboration across the entire event ecosystem. Responsible delivery isn’t the job of one stakeholder it requires input from agencies, suppliers, venues, clients, and audiences alike. By bringing together voices from different corners of the industry, we can uncover blind spots, share best practices, and build more resilient, future-ready solutions.
