Sky Pro-Cycling Launch
AV specialists PSP were involved in one of the biggest sports stories of the year when they provided the full audio-visual requirements at the launch of Sky's Pro Cycling team.
In association with leading Cheltenham-based brand agency Dair, PSP dazzled the world's media with a spectacular unveiling of SKY'S 26-man strong elite team that included star names like of Bradley Wiggins and Edvald Boasson Hagen.
After a ride around at St James's Park that involved 280 cycling fanatics, SKY's team headed to Millbank Tower where PSP's 50in plasma screens played montages of the team on arrival.
At the media launch, SKY presenter Dermot Murnaghan hosted the event and a 103in plasma screen replayed iconic images of the riders and the morning ride as the elite team were unveiled to the audience.
Echoing the team's official colours of blue, white and black, LED battens with a Perspex cover provided a blue line running through the stage and set, with the team's cyclists officially 'signing in' on a Perspex board built into the set using light reactive pens.
The lighting rig consisted of more LED battens with P90s and18 Mac700s, as well as a number of generic fixtures. Audio requirements were covered by a d&b loudspeaker system with a Yamaha LS9 mixing console performing front of house duties.
"Sky Pro Cycling is an awe-inspiring brand and the set that dair designed reflected this," says PSP's Mike Featherstone. "Every element we supplied echoed this vision and we were proud to be a part of the event."
Dair, along with the various event partners worked seamlessly together on the launch, which required nothing but first class delivery. "The launch was high profile, relatively complex and had to be delivered in a short space of time. In partnership with PSP, we delivered beyond expectations. The press and media coverage has been fantastic. An outstanding launch event for an outstanding team."
